The Program The Government of Australia in partnership with the Government of Timor-Leste have invested significant resources to support the improvement of health outcomes for the people of Timor-Leste, particularly for women and children. Australia’s support to Timor-Leste’s health sector started in 2002 during the emergency phase after the country gained its independence. Among the recent investments is Australia’s AUD7.5 million per annum contribution (2016 – 2018), delivered through the Partnership for Human Development (PHD), which Abt International is implementing together with various health implementing partners. In order to improve the nutritional status of all Timorese people, particularly women and children, the Government of Australia through PHD has invested in a number of nutrition programs and initiatives including Hamutuk (currently piloted in Suku Holarua – Manufahi), the President’s Nutrition Program and the provision of technical assistance across sectors and outside of PHD. Aligned with recommendations from the review of Australia’s investments in nutrition in Timor-Leste (scheduled for 2017), PHD will explore further opportunities to support the Government of Timor-Leste to improve nutrition and food security outcomes. The Senior Program Coordinator will primarily work with the Technical Lead-Nutrition to assist with the management and support of PHD nutrition sector activities including Hamutuk and the Presidents Nutrition Program. The position will also contribute to other cross sector nutrition activities within PHD. The position will act as Deputy to the Technical Lead – Nutrition and when relevant, represent the Technical Lead - Nutrition at meetings, conferences and seminars relevant to the nutrition sector. Further duties will include: · Provide line management support to the PNP and Hamutuk program coordinators including performance development in line with the approved work plan and budget · Assist the Technical Lead – Nutrition to effectively implement nutrition sector activities in particular, Hamutuk and the President Nutrition Program · Contribute to the annual work planning process by providing technical inputs and reporting · Manage the day-to-day administrative and financial tasks of the nutrition sector · Undertake program monitoring and reviews and contribute to other sectoral reviews when required · Prepare timely and accurate program reports as required The preferred candidates will have experience working in Timor-Leste or a similar setting.
